Abstract: In 2005, while the transformer bank was being disconnected inW enzhou Gas Turbine
PowerGeneration Company, one phase arc discharge occurred to the 220 kV main transformer’ s
ˉ
sw itch with the result of open phase operation of the transform er bank. Based on this acciden,t this
ˉ
article analyzes the possible changes in the operation conditions of the transformer bank and the
effect of these changes upon them ain related installations. It also discusses them easures to be taken
in the case of the failure of the main sw itch to extinguish arc and the precautions against this
situation.
