——BookIIB《Unit 6 Monkey King》Reading教学设计

Analysis of teaching materials
The language goal of this unit is “Legends and stories”. This lesson is focused on the topic of the Monkey King. There are 6 new words and phrases in the passage. At the same time, this passage enriches the knowledge of outside classroom and opens up the students’ mind.
Students’ reading level
It’s the first time for students of Grade 8 to get in touch with Chinese Traditional book Journey to the West. Most of the students may feel excited about the legend .??Interest is the best teacher, but students don’t have any skills to deal with the reading. Teacher should lead the students to finish the reading tasks.
Reading strategy
Students will be able to apply the reading strategy—skimming to find the main idea without reading every word..
Students will be able to get general idea or specific information by using reading skills like skimming, scanning, and careful reading.
Students will have a logicality training about reading.
Teaching aims
I.Knowledge objects:
1.Students will be able to understand and use the following key words and phrases: turn...into, object, hide, tail, magic, stick, excite, Western,came, be interested in, be able to,etc.
2.Students are expected to learn some knowledge about Monkey King.
II.Ability objects:
1. Students are expected to improve the abilities of telling a story.
2. Students will be encouraged to use the methods of skimming, scanning, careful reading to improve reading abilities and can have a good understanding of the whole text.
III.Moral objects:
Students will be motivated to face the trouble bravely, and work hard to achieve their goals.
Teaching Procedures
Step I Lead in
T: (showing a mask of Sun Wukong and a magic stick)Hello,boys and girls. What do I look like? Lead in the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, teach Monkey King and magic stick.
