Teaching plan for Unit 6 I’m going to study computer science. Period One Objectives: 1.To learn some words about different kinds of jobs. 2.To learn to talk about future intentions with the sentence patterns: want to be be going to Affect: 1. Ss share each other’s dream jobs. 2. Ss understand that they need to plan and work hard for their dreams. Teaching difficulties: Learn to talk about future dream jobs and how to do them by using “be going to”. Language focus: Students can use “be going to” to talk about their future intentions. Teaching procedure Step 1: Greetings Meet the students and ask about what they want to do or plan to do in the future. Give the Ss some questions. e.g. Where are you going next week? How long are you staying? What are you doing? What do you want to be? Step 2: Lead in Activate students’ background information about different jobs: teacher, nurse, doctor, basketball player, runner, actor, actress… and teach and consolidate some words about jobs by using PPT. New words about jobs: computer programmer, cook, doctor, engineer, teacher, violinist, bus driver, pilot, pianist, basketball player, scientist, actor Step 3: Presentation (1) Lead the Ss to talk about their dream jobs and present the new drills: A: What are you going to be when you grow up?/What do you want to be when you grow up? B: I am going to be…when I grow up./I want to be…when I grow up. Get the Ss to do more practice by using PPT. (2) Get the Ss to talk about what they need to do to achieve their dreams. A: How are you going to do that? B: I’m going to take…lessons/practice doing…/study…hard. Get the Ss to do more practice . Step 3: Listening practice Listening 1b: The Ss listen to the tape and fill in the blanks , and then match the items. 1. computer programmer a. take acting lessons 2. basketball player b. study computer science 3. engineer c. practice basketball every day 4. actor
