This part, through the listening and speaking activities in 1a-1c, sets the scene of going to a party in which the target structure is introduced and practiced. What the Ss have acquired in this period will lay a good foundation to the learning of the rest part in this unit. Students analysis The topic about party (talked about in unit9), vocabulary in this period as well as the structure “be going to” and “will” indicating the future are familiar to the Ss of grade eight. Therefore, what they have learned will help them to engage in talking about the topic in this period. What is new to them is the new structure: first conditional if + will and to talk about consequences by using this new structure.
