Difficult points: 1) Understand the history of Thanksgiving day. 2) Say the instructions of making a turkey dinner. Teaching Procedure Ⅰ. Duty report and lead-in A student named Apple does a duty report about Thanksgiving and the special food cranberry. Then call some students to answer some questions . Ⅱ. Presentation Show a picture about a turkey dinner. Then ask “When is Thanksgiving in the United Stated and Canada?” Let students know the dates are different. Ⅲ. Reading (2b) 1.A reading competition Call some groups of four or five students to read the passage and other students choose a better one. 2.Fast reading After listening, let students try to tell the main idea of the passage. It’s a story about Thanksgiving day and how to make the main dish – turkey. 3.Careful reading Let students answer the questions in 2c.Then call some students try to retell it. Q1;Where do people celebrate Thanksgiving ? Q2:When do people celebrate it ? Q3:Why do people celebrate it ? Q4:How do people celebrate it now ? Q5:What is the main dish of the Thanksgiving meal ? Ⅳ. Listening (Paragraph2) The best cook 1.Let students listen to tape and fill in the blanks .Call some students to say the answers. 2.Students work in pairs . They should put the pictures in right orders and say the instructions of making a turkey dinner. Call some students to come to the blackboard and practice. V.
