Unit5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came? Good morning! Teachers and judges. I’m Nie Qin. It’s my great honor to stand here to share my teaching ideas with you. Today I’m going to talk about the first period in Section A of unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came?, Which is taken from Go for it, Book4. My presentation consists of six parts: analysis of the teaching material, analysis of the students, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design.
Part One Analysis of the teaching material
一、Status and Function
This unit is mainly about telling past events using the past continuous tense. Let the students talk about what people were doing when the relevant events happened. The content of this unit is closely related to students’ daily life, so it’s easy to encourage them to communicate with others by using what they have learned in this class.
二、 Teaching aims and demands
1. Knowledge Objects
Master new words, phrases and key sentences.
Master the past continuous tense.
2. Ability Objects
How to use the past continuous tense in the adverb clause of time leaded by when.

Lead Ss to learn the sense of self-protection in time of difficulty.

Part Two Analysis of the students
The Ss have learned simple continuous tense and they can express their thought and communicate with each other in English well. And all the Ss will be interested in the topic about their past experience,which is related to their real life. It’s helpful for our study of this lesson. Part Three Teaching methods
