Finally, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my beloved family for their constant encouragement and support, especially my late father who has loved me without reserve. 摘 要 情态助动词具有独特的功能和显著的复杂性，本文的主要目的就在于揭示中 国英语学习者是如何使用情态动词的。基于 CLEC 和 LOB 中中国学习者和本族 语者产出的真实语料，本文采用宏观与微观相结合的视角，宏观上将情态动词作 为一个整体，运用错误分析的方法进行研究；微观上利用 Microconcord 软件对 三个选定的情态动词 must, should 和 could 的语义分布进行对比研究。最后得出 以下结论： （1） 九个核心情态动词当中，中国学习者普遍过多使用 can, must, should 和 will 而较少使用 might, shall 和 would，而 could 和 may 在两个 语料库中出现的频率却几乎相同。 （2） 中国学习者在使用情态动词时存在四种类型的错误。第一类，情态 动词与助动词共现；第二类，情态动词后的动词词形错误；第三类， 情态动词与语篇时态不一致；第四类，情态动词选用错误。此外， 数据表明中国学习者在使用 can, will, must 和 should 时更易出错。 （3） CLEC 和 LOB 中高度情态动词 must 以及中度情态动词 should 的根 意义在数量分布上超过它们的认识意义，但是，中国学习者又呈现 过多使用根意义的趋势，而低度情态动词 co
