[Method] The content of total saponins in RADIX A TRAGALI w as determ ined by ultraviolet spectrophotometry using dynam ic adsorption- desorption m ethod ami ed at study ing the optmi um conditions for separating and purify ing total sapon ins from RADIX A TRAGALI w ith macroporous resin. [ Result] The optmi um conditions for separation and purification of total sapon insw ith AB-8were as follows: extracting concentration of 0. 1g/m,l sampling volum e of 3 BV, flow rate of 1. 0 m l/m in, washing w ith 4 BV of distilled water first and then desorption w ith 4 BV of 50% ethano.l Under the above condition, the y ield of total saponins reached as high as 52. 1%. [ Conclusion] Th is method was smi ple and feasible, which could meet industrial requirements.
