华中科技大学硕士学位论文 华 中 科 技 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 PAGE IV PAGE IV Abstract In modern Chinese, estimative words are commonly used as a mode of verbalization. In some cases, when it is not necessary to give specific figures or people do not want or do not have accurate numbers, they usually use estimative words as a substitute. Therefore, estimative words are used generally in many fields such as education, economy, politics, science and oral as well. “Duo” is used widely in modern Chinese in many flexible ways, it is also a multi-meaning and multi-functional word. In recent years, many grammarians have studied the use, function and meaning of the word “duo” in many facets and gained remarkable achievements. Nevertheless, there are not many studies of the comparison of “duo”, especially the studies related to the phrase of “duo” in Vietnamese almost do not exist. As a Vietnamese student who study Chinese, I find that Vietnamese students usually make mistake in using the word “duo”. As a result, base on the research results of the predecessors, I analyzed and compared them, from which I found out some teaching methodologies. Mainly, this thesis including 4 parts: Part 1: Includes the meaning, purpose, research methods, and research achievements gained from the form of comparison between Chinese duo in Vietnamese Part 2: Study the corresponding forms of duo adverb, visualized words, auxiliary estimative words from Vietnamese. Through into-Vietnamese translated sentences to analyze and find out the corresponding form in the structure and semantics, from which to give conclusions about the similarities and differences between the two languages. Part 3: This thesis analyses the reason why Vietnamese students make mistakes when using the word “duo” and suggests some solutions. Hopefully, this paper could be a useful reference for studying and teaching.
