PAGE PAGE VI Abstract Teenager using addicted substance has great negative effect on both individuals and society. For the individual, using addicted substance could impair some brain function, at the same time, it could accompany with risky behavior, which includ impulsive behavior, suicide intention and attempt, and depression. For the society, teenager using addicted substance could cause some social problems e.g. disrupting social order and so on. It is necessary and important to prevent from the problem of addicted substance use for the teenagers. Exploring the factors which cause the teenagers use addicted substance could help people to know the reasons and find way to prevent from substance addiction, also, find the effective therapies for it. There are two researches in this thesis. The first research investigates teenagers‘ using substance circumstances in Guangdong and Hunan province, applying cluster sampling to collect 1944 samples from middle schools which are in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Changsha, and one juvenile prison and one bureau of drug abuse control which are in Guangdong province. The investigation uses self-developed questionnaire which is Teenager Using Substance Investigation Questionnaire as a tool. It shows that there are 272 samples report using substance (including 211 samples from school and juvenile prison, and 61 samples from bureau of drug abuse control), the epidemiological use rate is 11.51%. The investigation suggests that cigarette and alcohol are the main using substances in teenagers. Ice and ketamine are two new-type drugs that a largr number of teenagers are using. The second research uses the 272 samples that report substance using as a using group, and choose 272 random samples as non-using group. Making comparisons of these two groups helps us find the differences and explore the influencing factors of substance use.
