国家海洋局第三海洋研究所 国家海洋局海洋发展战略研究所 Third Institute of Oceanography China Institute for Marine Affairs International Symposium on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biodiversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction (October16-17 2018, Xiamen, China) The International Symposium on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ)will be co-organized by the Third Institute of Oceanography (TIO), and the China Institute for Marine Affairs (CIMA), and sponsored by the Ministryof Natural Resources and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. It aims to facilitate in-depth discussions and exchange of views related to the topics of marine genetic resources, including questions on the sharing of benefits, measures such as area-based management tools, including marine protected areas, environmental impact assessments and capacity-building and the transfer of marine technology.The Symposium will be an opportunity to follow up and further explore areas and issues of interest to scholars and experts in multiple disciplines, and make contribution to the negotiation of Intergovernmental Conference on BBNJ. The symposium will be take place on October16-17, 2018, in Xiamen, China. Scientists, scholars and experts with expertise on BBNJ-related topics are welcomed to participate in the symposium.
