The t ransmission matrix of rigid straight pipe with mean flow and linear temperature gradient is estab-

lished according to the actual case of silencer Ut ilizing t he equivalent circuit diagram of the extended inlet
outlet silencer and t he theory of rigid straight pipe that has been established. The mathemat ical model of the
transfer matrix of t he extended inlet/ outlet silencer and its insert ion loss can be obtained. T he numerical re-
sults are verified by comparing them w it h the experimental results.
