College of Chemistry, SichuanNormal University, Chengdu 610068, China) Abstract: Activated carbons weremodified by microwave of 4 different powers at different timein high purity nitrogen ambi ent. Porestructureand microstructure of both conventional and modified activated carbons weretested by the apparatus of N2 adsorption and Xray analysis. Effect of microwavetreatment on porestructure of activated carbon was studied by comparing conventional and modified activated carbons. Results showed that microwave treatment of activated carbon resulted in in significant change of surfacearea, decreased mesopore, basically unvaried microporevolume and enlargedmicrocrystallinity.
