ABSTRACT In a long historical period, Western classical aesthetics regard machine as the incarnation of ugly. However, in modern times, it was successfully transformed from ugly to beautiful dramatically. This is undoubtedly related to the technological progress, the industrial revolution and the historical background of the great development of the capitalist business culture. It’s no doubt that， the appearance of machine aesthetics has a deep inner link with the modern industrial revolution and capitalist commercial civilization history. The study of machine aesthetics in China， always tend to see it as a kind of artistic ideological trends under the specific historical background， and then gradually became a personal heroism history and narration. And this kind of stylized understanding， descriptive research and the superficial analysis， cause the architecture design always in imitative condition in a long time. Now the industrialization is still arduous historical task in the process of modernization in China， so trying to understand the aesthetical spirit of machine still has very important theoretical significance. This paper tries to explore how machine entered peoples aesthetic vision from the aspects of scientific and technological progress, industrial production, the economic model and the process of industrial modernization, and gradually established the historical process of relatively stable standard of value.
