单元影视 Earth: The Power of the Planet is a British documentary (记录的) television series that premiered (首次公演) on BBC Two on 20 November 2007. The five-part series is presented by geologist Iain Stewart. In the United States, the series was broadcast on the National Geographic Channel as Earth: The Biography. During filming in Madagascar (马达加斯加岛), a new species of ant was discovered by Brian Fisher and named after Stewart: Cerapachys iainstewarti. Earth: The Power of the Planet has five episodes: Volcano, Atmosphere, Ice, Oceans and Rare Earth. It explores the great forces that shape the Earth — volcanoes, the ocean, the atmosphere and ice. How do these forces affect the Earths landscape, its climate, and its history? It gives the audience a ringside seat (靠近拳击台观察席位) at these great events, while the final episode brings together all the themes of the series and argues that Earth is an exceptionally (特殊地) rare kind of planet and we have a special responsibility to look after it.
