Intersection spacing is one of the critical variables affecting roadway safety and operation.For the desert and gobi highway,because of the special the geographic environment and climatic factors,it has unfavorable influence to driving characteristics, and the probability of traffic accident is much bigger than common area highway. Setting up the suitable highway intersection of the desert and gobi highway is not only beneficial to improve the roadway safety and operation of the desert and gobi highway, but also protect design functions and extend the life span of the desert and gobi highway in these areas.All these can be raise the traffic management and energy savings etc. Nowadays our country has not develop studying of intersection spacings in the desert and gobi areas comprehensively,and related standards and codes are not imperfect,and the phenomenon that the arbitrarily break of the desert and gobi highway is serious(for example,villages corresponds to their own highway intersection and access),which affects use function of the desert and gobi highway. This thesis study the highway intersection spacing of the desert and gobi highway from both the theory calculation and simulation analysis.First,starting from the influence of factors of driver’s driving characteristics and comparing with the driver’s reaction time in common area and city area,the article can derive the driver’s reaction time in the desert and gobi areas using the step analysis.Second,according to the Access Management Technology and making the classification of plane intersection and Highway inte
