Seed during Germination * XIA Guang-Qing , LI Dong-Mei, LI Cai-Feng, QIN Jia-Mei College of Life Sciences, Tonghua Normal University, Tonghua, Jilin 134002, China Abstract: The process of Schisandra chinensis seed germination was observed by stereo microscope and specialized tissue analysis system software, some physiological and biochemical indexes were also analyzed. The results showed during the initiation of stratification (4 ℃, sand culture), seed embryos were very small, and rich in oil. At the end of stratification, seed embryos became slender, gradually extending to the tip of the seed side. After 60 d, the seeds became to germinate, and till to 150 d, the embryo broke through seed coat, began to sprout. With seed embryo development, the water contents and soluble protein contents of seeds increased, the activity of α-amylase enhanced, while the soluble sugar contents decreased firstly and then increased.
