Ther e ar e man y studies about position chan ges of h yoid in OSAHS patient,but wh eth er if th er e is r eleven ce bet ween position ch ange of h yoid an d mandibular advan cement ,and even th er e is r egulation in position change of h yoid ar e still in argue.Most of th e past studies ar e two -dimen sion al,thr ee-dimen sional meth ods such as computer ized tomograph y(CT) ar e still an d inter val.Th ese meth ods can analyze on e movement position of h yoid while Three - dimen sional Finite Elemen t analyse can anal ysis th e wh ole pr ocess of position change of h yoid with mandibular advan cement escapin g fr om extra radiation and distur ban ce. Three-dimen sional finite element meth od is th e most advan ced and effective meth od of biomech anical anal ysis in medicin e . This stud y obtain ed th e accurate Dicom for mat of th e image in formation of OSAHS patient’s upper air wa y by using spiral CT scan and establish an accurate, flexible simulation OSAHS patient’s upper air way model by usin g Mimics an d An sys soft war e. Thr ough loading of mandibular advan cement, position chan ge of h yoid can be simulated, wh ich la y the foun dation for th e OSAHS patient’s upper air way biomech anical an al ysis, as well as pr ovide a th eor etical basis for Oral applian ce optimal design for OSAHS therap y, while explor ing a n ew wa y of thinkin g for futur e r esear ch of OSAHS.
