Reading is a basic skill for the learners who learn English as a foreign language . 2. Reading strategies are the keys to improving English learners’ reading abilities. 3.But subjects in scholars’ researches are mostly college students and senior high school students, rarely rural middle school students, especially grade two students. 1.2 Research questions Q1:What are the overall situations of reading strategy use in three junior high schools? Q2:What are the characteristics of reading strategy use by successful readers? Q3:Is there any correlation between the subjects’ strategy use and their English reading abilities? 1.3 Significance of the Study For teaching : this paper can promote the current teaching reform of EFL reading For teachers: It can provide fresh data for teachers and help English teachers adjust their reading teaching methods in time.
