On November 29th 2011, China’s first aircraft carrier Varyag left the shipyard in Dalian for its second trial voyage. Then, the topic of China’s first aircraft carrier became popular immediately again. The first great mass fervor of China’s first aircraft carrier appeared in August 2011, shortly after Varyag’s first trial voyage. Of course, almost all the media, including TV shows, newspapers, broadcast, magazines and websites, could not stop reporting this hot topic. Many of them took part in the argument that whether it is necessary for China to develop aircraft carriers. A magazine called “South” said it is a wrong choice for China to research and build aircraft carriers. This magazine gave several reasons and views, which has provided a good summary of these people who object to developing aircraft carriers. However, I do not agree with this magazine. I think this magazine’s views are not correct at all. First, the “South” magazine said that developing aircraft carriers costs a lot of money, while the money can contribute to the development of public traffic, education and health services. We should know that good public services must be set up on a stable public environment. Without steady state and public environment, the development of public services can not last for a long time; the achievement of public services a country has got can not be assured.
