Liquid and gas hydrocarbons have represented always a substantial part of the power consumption, natural gas being the main source of energy. Due to the demand of electrical equipment, the use of Combined Cycles (electrical energy using hydrocarbons) is intensified because of its lower cost of investment and reduced installation time, in detriment of Hydropower and nuclear energy. In summary, both in Primary Energy generation and Electrical Energy generation, Hydrocarbons appears to account for more than 88%. Therefore, it can be said that Argentina is dependent on hydrocarbons.
