Some commentators emphasized on the strong consciousness of the subversion and digestion in Stephen Chou’s movies that named him “ Master of deconstruction of the post-modernism”, which was rejected by Stephen Chou as an overstatement; there are some other commentators deem his movies vulgar and inferior which also lead to great controversies. Taking a panoramic view of the comments, we can see that some of them are pertinent, while some aren’tHowever, most of them are lack of theory with the basis of text reading. This paper, which is based on the linguistic environment of Hongkong, tries to find out the possibility of the post-modernism behind his movies trough the explanation of his movies’ characters of Nonsense and parody by text explaining of his movies. In the procession of analyzing, this paper discovers there are many conjunctions between Stephen Chou’s movies and the theory of the west post-modernism, such as the skidding of the signifier and its extension and substitution of meaning.
