PAGE 8 《鹿特丹公约》农药履约工作迈向新台阶 National workshop on the effective implementation of the Rotterdam Convention 宁波座谈会 Ningbo, China 2013 年6月4- 6 日 2013 June 4 – 6  Summary The national workshop on the effective implementation of the Rotterdam Convention and development of pesticide management took place in Ningbo, China from 4 – 6 June 2013. The workshop was organized by the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA) with the support of the Rotterdam Convention Secretariat and the FAO Regional Office of Asia and Pacific. The workshop aimed at following up on progress in the implementation of the Convention and further developing institutional capacity in the sound pesticides management. More than 30 Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Secretariat of Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues, Customs General, customs from major ports, pesticide industry, the Rotterdam Convention Secretariat and the FAO Regional Office attended the workshop. The participants reviewed the status of implementation, in particular with regard to the submission of import responses and notifications of final regulatory action and the trade related provisions of the Convention. Through presentations and discussion, participants identified areas for further development and improvement in the implementation of the Convention and agreed on follow up actions. It also provided an opportunity for hands on training on the operation of the Convention. The workshop followed up on the implementation of the trade related obligations under the Convention. Representatives from Customs’ offices introduced the role of custom officers and the inter-action with ICAMA in the control of import and export of pesticides.
