Teaching aims
1. Language goals
Key vocabulary: tennis racket, baseball bat, soccer ball, volleyball, basketball, TV, do, does, have.
Target language: Do you have a soccer ball?
Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.
2. Ability goals
Train students’ listening and speaking skills.
Train students’ communicative competence.
3. Moral goals
It’s good for us to play sports.
Teaching important points
Name of sports.
Ask and answer questions about ownership.
Teaching difficult point
Talk about ownership.
Teaching procedures
Step 1: Greeting and Revision
Greet the class as usual.
Revision: Show some pictures on the screen, such as baseball, pencil, book, ect. Ask questions like this: T: What’s this in English?
T: And what’s this?
S: It’s a baseball .
OK, in this class, we’ll learn some names of sports.
Step 2: Lead_in
First show some pictures of the things Ss have leart on the screen. Ask question like this:
T: Do you have a/an...?
S: Yes,I do./No, I dont.
Step 3 Learn the new words
Show the pictures of soccer ball, basketball, volleyball, ping_pong ball, ping_pong bat, tennis racket on the screen. Ask questions like this:
T: What’s this? ( Point to the picture of soccer ball.)
S: It’s a soccer ball.
T: S-O-C-C-E-R, B-A-L-L, soccer ball.
Ask students to read after me.
T: I have a soccer ball. Do you have a soccer ball?
S: Yes, I do./ No, I dont.
Use the same methods to teach and practice the other words.
Practice the words over and over again until they can name each item fluently.
Step 4 Section A 1a
Look at the words in 1a and match the words with the things in the picture.
T: Number 1 is (c ) ,tennis racket. What’s Number 2 ?Match them.
Ask one student to show the answers and check them.
