Time Procedure Objective Notes 3 mins Step 1 Pre-reading 1. Greetings. (Free talk) –How do you come to school? -I usually/ often/ sometimes come… 2. Brain storm -How many ways can you think of to go to school? -What are they? Lead in new knowledge by free talk and brain storm. 22 mins Step 2 While-reading 1. Setting: Robin is reading a magazine to Grandpa—Different ways to go to school. T: Let’s have a look what’s the text about! 2. First reading: (1) Listen, read and underline the ways ①Let Ss to look at the pictures and understand “by sled, by ferry”. Reading tips: Pictures can help you understand ② Show the ways on the blackboard. (2) Find the four places: Jiangxi, Munich, Alaska, Papa Westray. ①Find the four places and try to read them. ②Ss match the places and the ways on the blackboard. 3. Second reading Read, think and talk (Groupwork) T: Look at part2. Why do they go to school by sled? Reading tip: Read and think, you can know more. T: Why do they go to school on foot/ by ferry/ by plane? 4. Third reading Listen and read. Read in groups. Reading tip: Pay attention to the liaison(连读). (1) Choose some Ss to read it.
