I. Teaching aims
1. In the process of reading and speaking, their abilities of scanning, skimming, communication and cooperation will be improved.
2. In terms of emotion and values, the students will be aware of a trip, which can facilitate their communication in the future.
Ⅱ. Important and difficult points
1. Instruct the students to pick up and select information.
2. Train the students’ reading ability by finding out key words.
3. Lead the students to talk about their first experience and be engaged in the activities actively in class.
Ⅲ. Teaching procedures
Step1: Leading in
Talk about the Mid-Autumn Day and different vehicles and learn the new words: ferry, helicopter, tram
Step2: Pre-reading
Show the students a video to get a brief introduction to Australia.
Step3: Fast reading
Read the passage as quickly as possible and then find the answer to What’s the passage about?

Step4 : Careful reading
