Adjusting Units You can change the number of units for an asset and update distribution information to reflect the new units. A unit adjustment is similar to a transfer, because you must update assignment information when you change the number of units for an asset. Changing Units You can change the number of units for the asset in the Asset Details window. When you save your work, Oracle Assets navigates to the Assignments window so you can update distribution information. Assign Units Update the distribution lines for the asset to reflect the new number of units. The Units to Assign field displays the number of units that must be distributed. The Units to Assign field must be zero before you can save your work. Notes You are not retiring these units梱ou are adjusting the number of units to reflect the correct amount. If all units remain in the original cost center, Oracle Assets does not create any journal entries. Transferring Assets You can assign and transfer assets to several employees, locations, and general ledger accounts. You can transfer all or part of an asset. You can even backdate a transfer in the current period or a prior period. You can transfer groups of assets. Retiring Assets Using Oracle Assets, you can easily retire or reinstate your assets. You can retire all or part of an asset when it is no longer in service. For example, you can retire an asset that was lost, stolen, damaged, sold, returned, or for any other reason that caused you to stop using it. If necessary, you can undo the retirement with a reinstatement. Oracle Assets will continue to track a fully reserved asset until you retire it. Note: If you have processed the retirement transaction by running the Calculate Gains and Losses program, you must use Reinstate to reverse the retirement.
