The main methods of forest health assessment in China include biological indicator method, index system method, health distance meethod, principal component analysis, analytic hierarchy process, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation and artificial neural net work, etc. The paper also discussed the standard and their application of forest health assessment. Based on the analysis of forest health and problems related with forest activities, the paper proposed an outlook of forest health monitoring and assessment.
