MCU是整个NC操作中的媒介物，它的主要作用是输入零件程序，并将这些信息转化为机床能识别的语言，以便执行加工成品所需的功能。主句中有两个并列表语is to take……和（is to）convert……，其中that从句做language的定语，在结果状语从句中过去分词短语required to produce a finished part是functions的定语。 This could include turning relays or solenoids ON or OFF and controlling the machine tool movements through electrical or hydraulic servomechanisms. MCU的功能包括切换回转继电器或螺线管打开或关闭状态，和通过电器或液压伺服机构控制机床的运动。 DATA Decoding and Control数据译码与控制： One of the first operations that the MCU must perform is to take the binary-coded data (BCD) from the punched tape and change it into binary digits. This information is then sent to a holding area, generally called the buffer storage, of the MCU. The purpose of the buffer area is to allow the information or data to be transferred faster to other areas of the MCU. MCU最重要的作用之一是必须将穿孔带上的BCD码转换为二进制数字，然后将信息送到一个保持（存储）区，通常称为MCU的缓冲存储器。缓冲区的目的是将这些信息或数据较快地传输至MCU的其它区域。 If there were no buffer storage, the MCU would have to wait until the tape reader decoded and sent the next set of instructions. This would cause slight pauses in the transfer of information, which in turn would result in a pause in the machine tool motion and cause tool marks in the workpiece.
