—— by Xiaolin Four chemical elements ( 113 , 115 , 117 , 118 ) have been formally added to the periodic table (周期表) , completing the scheme (图表) s seventh row. They are the first to be included in the table since 2011, when elements 114 and 116 were added. The first true iteration (重复) of the table was produced in 1869 by the Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev. The new additions were formally verified (核实) by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) on 30 December 2015. The body announced that a team of Russian and American researchers had provided sufficient (充足的) evidence to claim the discovery of elements 115, 117 and 118. How do elements get their names? IUPAC awarded credit for the discovery of element 113 to a Japanese team at the Riken Institute. New elements can be named after a mythological (神话的) concept, a mineral (矿物) , a place or country, a property (性质) or a scientist. After the responsible IUPAC division (部门) accepts the new names and two-letter symbols, they will be presented for public review for five months. So element 113 may be named …… 113 Ja Japanium Elements named after a place or a country Continents : 95Am:americium( 镅 )--America Countries: 87Fr:francium( 钫 )--France 32Ge:germanium( 锗 )--Germany States: 63Eu:europium( 铕 )--Europe 98Cf:californium( 锎 )--California Elements named after a scientist 96Cm:Curium( 锔 )--Curie 99Es:Einsteinium( 锿 )--Einstein 101Md:Mendelevium( 钔 )--Mendeleev 102No:Nobelium( 锘 )--Nobel 104Rf:Rutherfordium( 钅卢 )--Rutherfurelium 107Rh:Bohrium( 钅波 )--Bohr
