SECTION I:INTRODUCTION This Handbook forms part of the Student Pack for ITF Level 1 Officiating Schools.It has been written to provide you with an easy-to-read summary of the key points concerning: Line Umpiring Chair Umpiring Code Of Conduct Code for Officials Having attended the School,you should regularly consult this Handbook and the other materials that you have received to ensure that you are using the correct ITF procedures and techniques. If you would like additional information about officiating you should contact your National Association or ITF Officiating. SECTION II ：LINE UMPIRE A．INTRODUCTION Good Line Umpires are crucial to a well-officiated match.With accurate line calling,the Chair Umpire’s job is made easier.If there are mistakes from the Line Umpires such as late calls and corrected calls,then the Chair Umpire will face more problems. B．BASIC POINTS TO REMEMBER 1 1．Aim to make accurate calls 2．Look and sound confident-always sell your call 3．Use the correct techniques 4．If the ball touches the line it is good 5．Your most important call is your next call 6．Always concentrate 7．Be on time for your assignments C．DUTIES OF THE LINE UMPIRE 1．Take up a position which gives you the best view of your line.If you are blocked by the receiver,move to see the line. 2．Call all the balls on your line only.Never comment on decisions which are the responsibility of other Line Umpires or the Chair Umpire. 3． If a player gets in your way and you cannot see the ball land immediately give an unsighted signal. 4． Correct a wrong call immediately
