I. Analysis of the reading material:
This unit is about celebration, and it is the first lesson of this unit.
The reading material is some brief introductions of three traditional
festivals in China. The grammar of this lesson is The Passive.
II. Analysis of students:
Students can understand the passage easily. And they have
learned The Passive in junior school.
III. Thinking of design:
This lesson will mainly focus on reading and speaking. Since the
reading material and the grammar are not very difficult for students,
how to help students use the language becomes more important.
Students activities will be from half-controlled to free talk to make
sure they can use some expressions they learn in class.
IV. Teaching objectives:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
l Find out some useful expressions which can be used to describe
date, meaning, activity and food from the text.
l Introduce a festival or a holiday by using the useful expressions.
V. Teaching key points, difficult points and solutions:
Key points: Help students to find out the useful expressions
which can be used to describe date, meaning, activity and food.
Solution: Give them enough time to read the material and give
them some examples.
Difficult points: How to make students use the expressions
correctly.
Solution: Show them an example.
