This engagement consisted of reengineering the entire materials management function for this 100bed, acutecare hospital near Chattanooga, Tennessee. The objective of the engagement was to eliminate all unofficial inventory and to reduce the cost of materials by appropriately managing the order and distribution process. This comprehensive engagement included the conversion of all materials management responsibilities to the materials management department, including surgery.

The engagement consisted of assisting this 235bed childrens hospital in Atlanta, Georgia in assessing their materials management and accounts payable process. The project focused on understanding the purchase process from the time a requisition is placed through the time delivery is made and payment distributed. We oversaw departmental revision of the materials management and accounts payable processing procedures to increase communications between the users, materials management, and accounts payable; to decrease internal disputes; and to regain control of the vendor payment cycle.
