We know from extensive animal and human experiments that during ventricular pacing with retrograde conduction over the slow pathway, activation occurs anterior to the coronary sinus, but inferior in the triangle. Whereas, when there is retrograde conduction over the fast pathway, it is a more anterior breakout. This anatomic separation allows us to do ablation of A-V nodal re-entry by targeting the slow pathway preferentially.
