江汉大学硕士研究生学位论文 I Abstract Teaching strategy isan organicpart ofteaching design.It referstotheteachingbehavior or teaching activities cater to the students learning needs in order to reach the teaching goal in a specificteaching situation.Asthe core competencies continuetopenetrate, Subject Core Competencies and its cultivation have become the focus of academic research.And English Subject Core Competencies can be cultivated through the implementation of English curriculum. Therefore, the application of English teaching strategy will directly affect the completion of teaching objectives, and thus directly affect the cultivation of English Subject CoreCompetencies. Based on the theory of English Subject Core Competencies, this thesis applies case analysis, classroom observation and interview to study how to make better use of English teaching strategies in terms of the cultivation of English Subject Core Competencies in English reading teaching. We proposed four frequently used teaching strategies through the analysis of collected 12 reading teaching designs . And based on English Subject Core Competencies Indicator System of Junior High, we further counted the strategies which is related to the 11 elements of ESCC accordingly with 12 classroom observation. With an interview of the observed English teachers, more detailed information of problems with current English reading teaching strategies injunior high is obtained.This paper studies the problems and attributes the causes as follows:the influence of exam-oriented education and traditional teaching pattern; the insufficient understanding of the teaching materials and students;teachersdonot attach importancetotheinfluenceofteaching strategies. In view of the above problems and causes, we provide some holistic and specific improvement suggestions.As far asthe
