Methods 94 patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumors complicated with diabetes admitted in the hospital from February 2018 to October 2019 were selected as the research object. They were divided into project group and general group according to the perioperative nursing measures， each group 47 patients each. The patients in the project group received high-quality care， and the patients in the ordinary group received routine care. The nursing effects of the two groups were compared. Results The postoperative indexes of patients in the project group were better than those in the ordinary group， and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant（P0.05）. The incidence of postoperative complications of patients in the project group was lower than that of the general group， and the difference between the groups was statistically significant （P0.05）. The satisfaction of patients in the project group was higher than that in the ordinary group， and the difference between the groups was statistically significant （P0.05）. The postoperative blood glucose management level of patients in the project group was better than that of the ordinary group， and the difference between the groups was statistically significant（P0.05）. Conclusion In the case of gastrointestinal malignant tumors combined with diabetes， the introduction of high-quality nursing during the perioperative period can guarantee the quality of postoperative rehabilitation of patients and reduce the risk of postoperative complications
