Program Management Purpose Utilizing a standardized process, STA is able to ensure a production Supplier’s manufacturing processes are capable of producing parts that demonstrate the capability to meet product specifications prior to program milestones. Goal The goal of this course is to provide STA Engineers with the ability to perform within a standardized process in support of a flawless launch of the program. Objectives Provide program support within the timeframes of FPDS Describe the roles, responsibilities, and relationships of STA Program, Site, and Resident Engineers and other team members throughout a program Provide initial program support Create, implement, and manage the High Impact and Focus Supplier lists Provide prototype build support Prepare for and conduct Launch Readiness Reviews Provide assembly plant build support Background – 1 Review of information from The STA Job and FPDS courses: STA Workload FPDS Types of Builds STA Responsibilities in Program Background – 2 Final topic supports the course objective to “provide initial program support” by: Explaining how and when STA integrates with the program team Identifying sources of program information important to STA Describing relationships necessary for the delivery of a program Identifying STA responsibilities for initial program support STA Workload STA Program Engineers may have up to 400 sites that they are working with at any one time. STA Site Engineers may have up to 50 different programs that they are interfacing with, in addition to the sites they are responsible for managing. STA Resident Engineers may be dealing with multiple programs and up to 500 sites. FPDS Milestones Timing of STA in FPDS STA Program Manager may start on a program anywhere from 48 to six months prior to J1. On major programs, STA Resident Managers start transitioning at approximately 1PP to become familiar with the new program and assume responsibilities.
