A Lively City Lesson Plan Teaching objectives: (1) Strategy objective: enable students to predict and scan for the specific information and learn how to write a introduction of a place. (2) Language objectives: enable students to be familiar with some important words and phrases, like fortunate, attractive, bother, district, approach, nuisance, architecture, parking, gorgeous, quite a lot, by the seaside, business district, walk around, for a while and put up. (3) Emotion objectives: foster the love of students for their hometown Important points: 1.Phrases and sentences patterns will be the key of this lesson. 2. Learn how to introduce a city. Difficult points: How to evoke the love of students for their hometown is the difficult one. Teaching methods: Task-based language teaching communicative approach Teaching aids: Pictures, PPT, chalks Teaching procedures: Lead-in: Step 1: to introduce students new words and phrases: attractive, bother, nuisance, architecture, gorgeous, quite a lot, by the seaside, business district, walk around, for a while, put up. Pre-reading: Step 2: Let students look at the title and focus on the word “lively”. And then ask students their opinions about “lively”. Step 3: To use some words and phrases and relevant pictures to let students predict the city the passage describes. While-reading: Step 4: students’ first listen to this passage, then go through the passage to complete the information on the screen. Step 5: Retell the information of Xiamen included in their dialogue first with sentences and then with a paragraph.
