Houyi heard that there lived a Goddess on the top of Kunlun Mountain, who had a pill of , the Goddess gave him one pill and told Hou Yi that if one person took the pill he would ascend to Heaven, but if he cut the pill into two halves and shared it with another person, they could only live forever. Also, the pill had to be taken on the 15th night of the eighth month when the moon was fullest. Hou Yi went home to Chang Er. And they decided to divide the pill and take it at the proper time. Three days before the fullest moon, Hou Yi heard of another pill on Tianshan mountain, which could make women always young and beautiful. For his wife, Hou Yi promised Changer to get the wonderful pill back in three days.
