GLENCORE COMMUNITY PROGRAM NORTH QUEENSLAND
2014
The Glencore Community Program North Queensland has supported several social infrastructure initiatives since 2005, including the development of the Mount Isa Family Fun Park, Townsville’s Ronald McDonald House and the Cloncurry Community Precinct.
These social infrastructure initiatives provide long-lasting and tangible benefits to the north Queensland communities
in which we live and work.

In 2014 the Glencore Community Program North Queensland (GCPNQ) entered its tenth year of working in partnership with community organisations to address the areas of greatest need in the Queensland communities
where our employees live and work. 1
The program demonstrates our commitment to Queensland and our belief that communities should benefit from our operations, both in the short and long term.
Since its establishment in 2005 our partnership programs have invested almost $28 million in the north Queensland communities of Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Camooweal, Townsville and
Bowen and more broadly throughout Queensland, forming partnerships with charities, schools, community groups and government departments to help make a difference to people across our region.
In 2014 we’re proud to announce over $1.2 million will be invested into eleven community partners who have been chosen for their projects that will improve vital services and facilities in our north Queensland communities.
Our partnerships are supporting six key areas:
Social and Community Development – to develop community capacity and to address social disadvantage including poverty and homelessness
Education – to break the generational cycle of educational disadvantage
Health – to support the delivery of essential health and community services
Environment – to support programs focused on the protection of environmental values
Enterprise and Job Creation – to generate jobs and provide skills for disadvantaged people
