Sales Figures;1967 Hans Werner Aufrecht (A), born in Grossaspach (G) and Erhard Melcher (M) start their business in the old mill in Burgstall. Engineering, design and development of racing engines is their mission. ;1971 The first major sporting triumph for AMG: The AMG Mercedes 300 SEL 6.8 wins its class in the 24-hour race in Spa with Hans Heyer and Clemens Schickendanz.;1978 The head office in Burgstall has become too small. AMG and its 40 employees relocate to Affalterbach 1985 Plant II becomes operational in Affalterbach – AMG takes on its 100th employee.;1988 The racing comeback: AMG teams up with Mercedes-Benz in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM). 1989 AMG is victorious in the DTM: Klaus Ludwig und Johnny Cecotto accumulate seven victories.;1990 Plant III in Affalterbach opens. AMG now has 400 employees and a cooperation agreement with Daimler-Benz that extends beyond motor sports. 1992 Klaus Ludwig becomes German Touring Champion with the AMG Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 EVO II.;1993 The first vehicle development on the basis of the cooperation agreement with Daimler-Benz is launched: the Mercedes-Benz C 36 AMG. As a result of its strong public image, AMG is registered as a trademark.;1994 AMG wins the German Touring Car Championship once more with  Klaus Ludwig in the newly-developed racing car version of the C Class. 1995 AMG is crowned German Touring Car champion for the third time in the history of the championship and also wins the ITC title.
