My friend suggested for me to go to Lijiang, a historical town in Yunnan province. I was really excited the trip. I love to learn about Chinese ancestors. I firmly believed travelling alone would help me to grow up. I read lots of travel guides, booked the ticket,and even reserved a hotelonline, without telling my parents. I walked into the kitchen where my mother was cooking dinner. “Mom, I booked a ticket to go to Lijiang! ” I said excitedly. “What?”she shouted, ”You’re so naive! How can you travel to such a remote place without me! It’s too dangerous!”She was so angry that her face turned red. I was shocked at her reaction. The smile I had on my face, froze. “Let me go!” I demanded.” I am old enough to take care of myself!”/ I begged my mom to let me go. ”Absolutely not!” she growled, frowning. So upset and angry, I screamed, “You don’t understand me at all! I hate you!” I rushed back to my room, slammed the door, and burst into tears. I was totally broken. As you expected, my very first travel alone planned trip was aborted. When I look back now, I can still remember the awful feeling I had. But I can also understand my mom’s reaction. What she did or said was all for my sake. I just took it for granted that mom would not worry about me.So now, if I’m going to travel alone or with friends, I will first ask her for permission. Parents care about us most in the world. We must understand them and try not to make them worry.
