The Role of a Room Attendant The chamber service is charged with maintaining guest rooms and public space in satisfactory conditions. The room needs to be cleaned up every day. The room attendant should do cleaning in a polite way and can not enter the room before they get permission from the guests. The duties of a room attendant include making up the rooms; changing linens and towels; cleaning and polishing floor and furniture; washing bathroom; doing the turn-down service and supplying the rooms with the necessary items, such as extra pillows or hair dryers etc. The room attendant is expected to maintain equipment provided for work and load housekeeper’s cart before the end of each day’s operation. The housekeeping department’s responsibility does not end with cleaning. Housekeepers are responsible for guest satisfaction, making sure that special request for guest service such as guest laundry, extra bed, and other personal services are met and public area cleaning is appreciate scheduled so as to minimize disturbance to guests.
