Good afternoon, my dear judges. It’s my pleasure to present my teaching design here. This is my topic. The lesson type is reading. I’ll present my lesson from the following aspects: the analysis of the teaching material and students, the teaching aims, the key and difficult points, the teaching methods, the teaching procedures, the blackboard design and the teaching reflection.
Part 1 The analysis of the teaching material
OK, let’s start with the analysis of the teaching material. The topic of this whole unit is “facts about the world”, which belongs to the category of “man and nature”. So, it’s a good source for students to talk about geography and nature. My teaching content is the reading part of Section A3a-3c, Unit 7 What’s the highest mountain in the world? Grade 8, from the textbook of Go For It. The text is a good sample of grammar reading, since there are many comparatives and superlatives in the text, which provides a good chance for students to review and practice using the comparatives and superlatives. After reading, students can learn something about Qomolangma. Also, they can learn from the spirit of the climbers: be brave, be confident and never give up.
Part 2 The analysis of the students
Now let’s look at this lesson from the aspect of learners.
My students are the center of the class. As students of Grade 8, they have basic abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. But sometimes they might be afraid of reading and writing long passage, their reading ability needs to be improved. They enjoy learning by cooperating and communicating with their classmates. Therefore,I’ll provide chances for them to communicate and cooperate with their friends. With the help of some previous knowledge(such as the expressions of large numbers, identifying the comparatives and superlatives ), the difficulty of this lesson is reduced.
