         A Study of Polite Principles in Business English Letters 
                                                Abstract 
         In recent decades, with the booming of global economy, Chinese market 
economy goes through development and the international business activities of 
Chinese   enterprises   are   becoming   more   and   more   frequent.   Business   English 
letters    are  generally     seen   as   one   of   the   most    efficient   tools   for  business 
communication,   which   exert   a   significant   role   in   business   trade.   Based   on   a 
combination   of   the   classical   polite   principles   and   business   English   letters,   the 
paper   aims   to   explore   the   application   of   polite   principles   in   business   English 
letters, allowing people to make best use of these principles to reach their goals 
in the international business trade and leave a favourable impression on business 
partners.     And    the   main    significance     of  this   paper    lies  in  having    a   better 
understanding of how polite principles are applied in business English letters. 
      This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduce the research 
background,        methods,     purposes     and    targets.   The    second     chapter     presents 
previous     study    of  domestic     and   foreign    polite   principles.    The   third   chapter 
illustrates   basic   concepts   of   polite   principles   and   business   English   letters.   The 
fourth    chapter    has   a  rough    analysis   of   polite  principles    in  business    English 
letters. The last chapter draws a conclusion about this paper, discusses its major 
findings,     notes   several    limitations    and   provides     some    proposals     for  further 
research.
