Adverbs Difficult Points: Describing manners by using adverbs Teaching Procedures: Organizing the class: Warming up: some words about saving people Leading in: Show students some pictures and let them guess what may happen. Then tell them today’s topic is about saving an old man by a brave couple. Listen to tape and fill in the blanks (1.1) Practice: in pairs to talk about their ideas-read the statements and circle true or false. Find out the adverbs in the article, and know their meanings. 6. Exercises in class:Do Ex. on the workbook, and check the answers. Summary Let the students be able to know what should we do when we are in trouble. Practice more and do some writing. Homework try to remember the all new words Do the workbook excise. Leading in: Generally speaking, we add –lyto an adjective to make an adverb of manner e.g. quick-quickly slow-slowly Listen and complete the director’s notes with the correct adverbs.(2.1) And change some adjectives to adverbs. Practice: Match each picture with the corresponding caption.(2.4) Act and guess: get the class to act out some actions and others guess the adverb. e.g. A: You’re playing sadly. B: Seriously? Summary: Get the class to know we form many adverbs of manner by adding –ly to an adjective related in meaning. And try to help students to use them well. Homework try to remember the all new words Do the workbook excise.
