First and foremost, I would Hke to show my sincere appreciation to my distinguished supervisor, Professor Zheng Chengping, fbr her careful and valuable guidance throughout my postgraduate study and her enlightening instruction and valuable advice on topic selection and the fulfillment of thesis, and she is generous with her time and efforts in reading and revising my thesis. Second, I would like to thank all the teachers and professors who have taught me at Ludong University in the last two years. I have learned lots of knowledge and inspiration from those teachers. Besides, I would like to thank my classmates and friends who care me so much in daily life, they provide me with valuable materials and help in the aspect of compositions5 amending. Abstract English reading teaching plays an important role in Senior High School English classroom teaching. The lead-in as a starting point fbr a class is an indispensable part of English classroom teaching. Therefore, a good reading lead-in can lay the foundation fbr a good reading class. A wonderful lead-in to reading teaching not only activates the classroom atmosphere, but also attracts students5 attention, stimulates their motivation and interest in learning, enhances their initiative, allows them to actively participate in the classroom, think positively and build a connection between new and old knowledge.
