By analyzing the empowerment of blocks in urban micro renewal, this paper sorts out the existing problems in three aspects, creatively puts forward the viewpoint of introducing urban catalyst theory into the micro renewal of block environment. The characteristics and operation mechanism of catalyst theory are studied, thus pointing out the feasibility of its integration with urban micro renewal. Then taking the non-material aspects of local context, situational scenes, urban life and scientific and technological interaction as the catalyst, the micro renewal activation strategy is constructed through the intervention of the corresponding physical environment carrier of block. Finally, through the specific case analysis, this paper concludes that the different catalytic effects of a variety of catalysts on the improvement of block vitality.
