Manager:Sowhathappened?

Student:Well,Iopenedthewindow.

Manager:Inthiscold?

Student:Yeah,Imean,youknowhowthisdormitorydoesn’theatevenly,andI’m

onthehotsideofthebuilding.Duringtheday,itcangetreallywarm.Alotofpeople

opentheirwindowstoletcoldairinandbalanceitout.

Manager:Um.

Student:Anyway,Iopenedjustacrack,butnowit’scompletelystuckandIcan’tget

itclosedatall,evenhadmyfriendBobtrytocloseit.Andheisonthewrestlingteam.

Evenhecouldn’tgetitclosed.

Manager:Youmeanyousleptwithanopenwindowallnight?Whydidn’tyoucall

thesecuritystaff?

Student:Well,Icamehomekindoflate,andfrankly,itwaslikewayafterhours.I

thoughtaboutcallingsecurity.ThenIjustletitgo.Butonenightofthatcoldis

enough.

Manager:Well,youshouldalwayscallsecurity.Eveniftheycan’tfixtheproblem

themselves,they’llmakesuretheproblemgetssolved.

Student:Okay.I’llrememberthat.Butactually,it’snotjustthewindow.Ithinkthere’

ssomethingwrongwiththeheatingthinginmyroom.Theradiator,itmusthave

crackedorsomething,becauseIjustnoticedapuddleofwaterinmyroom,andthe
