ABSTRACT
ThereportisbasedontheprojectexperienceoflocalizingthePCgamecalled
HarvestIslandonSteamintoChinese.Theauthorparticipatedintheprojectfrom
JanuarytoOctober2023,duringwhichsheprovidedtranslationservicetoYobob
GamesStudio.Althoughsheworkedasatranslator,shewasabletoparticipatein
almosttheentirelocalizationprocess,includingpre-projectpreparations,translation,
proofreading,andLocalizationQualityAssurance.
Thereportcomprisesfivechapters.Thefirstchapterisageneralintroduction,
whichgivesanoverviewoftheprojectandclarifiesthesignificanceandobjectivesof
thereport.Thesecondchapterelaboratesonthepreparatoryworks,includingan
analysisofrequirementsandtexts,themanagementoftasks,andthesupportingtools
andassets.Inthethirdchapter,theauthormakesacasestudyofthemajorlinguistic
andnon-linguisticproblemstheteamencounteredandgivestheirpracticalsolutions.
Thefourthchapterfocusesonqualityassuranceaftertranslationbyproviding
personalassessmentandteamevaluation.Inthefinalchapter,theauthorconcludes
thelessonsandexperiencelearnedintheprojectfromtheperspectivesofteamwork,
efficiency,andquality,whichleadstotheemphasisongoodcollaboration,effective
useofCATtools,accumulationofprofessionalknowledge,carefulweighingof
transcreation,andcultivationof“gamingsense”and“playerawareness”.Intheend,
theauthoralsogivessomepracticalsuggestions.
